India batting coach Vikram Rathour has stated that, with a bit more luck, captain Virat Kohli could have converted his half-century on Day 1 of the Cape Town Test into a big innings. Team India’s batting coach Vikram Rathour has backed captain Virat Kohli to continue playing his drives outside off stump. Despite yet another failure for Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane in the Kanpur Test, Team India’s batting coach Vikram Rathour backed both the veteran batters to come good in the future. Pujara was dismissed for contrasting 20s in both innings of the Test match against New Zealand while stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane registered scores of 35 and 4.

Indian batting coach Vikram Rathour admitted that the team was a bit distracted ahead of Day 4 of The Oval Test after they came to know that their head coach Ravi Shastri had tested positive for COVID-19. The BCCI informed on Sunday that the medical team had isolated Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun, fielding coach R Sridhar, and physiotherapist Nitin Patel as a precautionary measure after the head coach’s lateral flow test returned positive on Saturday evening.
